With the warmer weather there comes changes in the makeup routine right? You may choose to use different colors on your eyes and/or lips, you may need a different foundation, or maybe you are one who “glistens” (in layman terms – sweats – but we are being ladylike – lol) and makeup seems to “glisten” right off of you. Well, today we are going to talk about this last point because I tend to hear about it A LOT.
Some ladies tend to avoid wearing foundation because it melts off of their face. Meaning, that they glisten so much that when they wipe the glistening off, the makeup comes off with it. I do not have a solution for the stopping of glistening, BUT, I do have my top three suggestions for the makeup to not rub off. Try them and then tell me what happens.
1. BLOTTING POWDER!!! Blotting powder will absorb oils thus taking away the shine without settling into fine lines. It leaves a really nice “finished” (matte) look. The two blotting powders that I adore are the Pink Ink transparent blotting powder and MAC’s Invisible Set Powder. Both work really well and have no pigment. If you want a setting powder with pigment because you are worried that when you blot color will disappear from your face, you can get pigmented setting powders as well!
2. Blot don’t wipe. I’ve seen some ladies walk around with a face cloth, others have a cute powder puff, whatever it is that you use to remove glisten/oil blot, do not wipe. Blotting, more often than not, will leave the color on your face and remove the oil. Wiping will remove the color. So remember, blot, don’t wipe!
3. Drink lots of water. You may think that if you drink a lot of water you are going to perspire more. This may be true. But you will look soooooo good while you perspire – lol. Water is the best healing agent we have in our beauty arsenal. It helps with skin elasticity and with appearance. If you start with healthy looking skin, your makeup application will be much easier – trust me. If you think of the plum and the prune which one would look better with foundation? I know, silly question but think about it. Applying foundation to the prune will have it settle in the lines and wrinkly parts while applying foundation to a plum would likely settle nicely! The prune is void of water while the plum is full of water and juicy goodness. What would you like your skin to look like? The plum? Or the prune? I think my point is clear.
Makeup does not have to be scary!! There is a solution for everything. Sometimes it may take a little more effort to get the exact look you want BUT if you take a little bit of time and learn some of the tips and tricks – you will be a pro in no time!
